"cnn newsroom" continues now with brooke baldwin who is in newtown, connecticut. >>> i'm brooke baldwin live today in newtown, connecticut, where today the new reality is sinking in. today parents are living alongside an empty room of the child they lost. left behind in that room, pajamas, favorite toys, books they always read together, parents who know this, even the smell of their child's pillow. and these first responders being called heroes, but still day in and day out living with the images no one could have prepared them to see. today, families are deciding on coffins, head stones, choosing songs that will play at the funerals of first graders. want to tell you about the two little boys who are actually being remembered right now. the funeral for 6-year-old jack pinto began just about an hour ago. jack will be laid to rest today in newtown village cemetery. just a little bit of background on this 6-year-old, jack adored football, his favorite player was new york giants

community here. just so quiet and pristine and you call it because what you can hear about newtown, connecticut, and it is so filled with grief. it is only the beginning, though, as this town prepares to bury those who were killed on friday. there will be so many burials. the first of the funerals begins today at 1:00 p.m. these would beautiful children, jack pinto, noah pozner. it is going to be a tragic several weeks. no one knew that more than president obama who came here to speak to this town at a touching memorial last night. >> surely we do better than this. if there is even one step we can take to save another child or another parent or another town from the grief that'ses have e visited tucson, aurora, oak creek and newtown, communities from columbine to blacksburg before that, surely we have an obligation to try. >> surely we have an obligation to try, as newtown remembers. here are some other tragedies. adam lanza has been identified officially as the killer. that is his mother in better times on the right. nancy lanza. her home remains a crime scene. it will remain so

of the united states on friday, choked back tears. this is a very sad day, of raw emotion here in newtown, connecticut, as families begin burying the children killed in the massacre at the sandy hook elementary school right down the road from where we are right now. we're watching all of this unfold, and the pain is clearly, clearly evident. while every day here in new town is sad, today, it's especially, it's especially sad. this afternoon, the first funerals were held for victims of the elementary school massacre. connecticut's governor, you just saw him here, he attended one of the services today, and he summed it up this way, and i'm quoting him, you see little coffins and your heart starts to ache. as this town and the nation tries to come to grips with this huge, huge tragedy, the investigation is focusing in on the question why. some of the answers may come from a computer found in the home where the gunman, adam lanza, lived with his mother. cnn's national correspondent deborah feyerick is keeping track of the latest developments. she's joining us now live with more. what are you

happened inside the school. we have some new developments to tell you about from here in newtown. the president, president barack obama will be here tomorrow. the white house says the president will meet with the family of the victims, the 20 children and the six adults killed in their elementary school yesterday. also, we have reaction this evening from peter lanza, the father of the 20-year-old police say killed those people and then killed himself. the father says, quote, our family is grooeing along with all those who have been affected by this enormous tragedy. no words can truly express how heart broken we are. now, let me show you this picture that was just obtained by cnn. it shows adam lanza, back in 2005. he would be about 13 years old in this picture. and we have word tonight from police who are trying to learn why this young man would commit such an horrific act. they say they have found very good evidence in adam lanza's home that is helping them put together the puzzle pieces in that investigation. that home is also a crime scene now. investigators say lanza's mothe
